Apple is not doing well with its ultra-thin MacBook Air in recent years. and according to Apple analyst KGI Securities (via https://9to5mac.com/2018/03/03/more-affordable-13-inch-macbook-air/ ), the company is reportedly planning to release a cheaper model at some point in the second quarter of 2018. According to 9to5Mac, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects that Apple will release a 13-inch MacBook Air “with a lower price tag,” later this year, and that the lower price could help boost Apple’s laptop sales
The MacBook Air was last updated in June 2017 with a modest spec increase, but remaining with an aging processor. When the MacBook first debuted it was expected to eventually replace the MacBook Air line, but the newer 12-inch model has remained relatively expensive, with Apple instead discontinuing the 11-inch Air in 2016. The 13-inch Air has in turn become Apple’s entry-level laptop, maintaining a 1,440 x 900 display and USB-A ports.
So there you have it. Apple, Silicon Valley’s embodiment of innovation, might be changing the game all over again with the revolutionary idea of making its products more affordable. If Kuo is right, your wallet will thank you.
