The foldable iPhone could potentially double as a tablet. The report is based on various Apple suppliers that Wamsi met in Asia.
“We expect the iPhones this fall to be largely unchanged for the OLED versions although size changes have proved to be a catalyst in the past,” analyst Wamsi Mohan wrote in a note to clients Friday. “Our checks also suggest that Apple is working with suppliers on a foldable phone (that potentially could double up as a tablet) for launch in 2020.”

A foldable phone has long been touted as the next big thing in smartphone technology. It is also one of the ideas that existed only in science fiction and has been teased, but never made a reality.

Apple filed a patent application at the end of 2017 for a foldable display. There were rumors that Apple has been working along with LG to produce a foldable iPhone. Samsung has already been working on their Samsung Galaxy X or 10 that will be available sometime in 2018.
