Samsung has significantly revamped its Galaxy A series and they can no longer be considered your average mid-range devices. The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 (2018)+ are borderline flagships which means that there’s room in the lineup for mid-range devices. According to recent reports, this void will be filled by a couple of new handsets that will be called the Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus. Both variants are suggested to get Infinity Displays with a resolution of 1080×2220 pixels in a 18.5:9, and a pixel density of 441ppi
We can now reveal that Samsung is indeed developing the Galaxy A6 and the Galaxy A6+. The new handsets will be released in a handful of markets later this year.
A6 would come with Samsung’s own Exynos SoC, while the A6+ will feature a Snapdragon SoC. And the tipster claims the same. The Galaxy A6, as per the new leak will come with Exynos 7870 octa-core chipset, whereas the Galaxy A6+ will come with the Snapdragon 450 SoC, which is quite surprising. Besides the processor, few more details of the smartphones have leaked too. The Galaxy A6 will come with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 5.6-inch Full HD+ Infinity display (Yes, finally Samsung is looking to bring the 18:9 display tech to mid-range phones), 441 PPI, and of course, the Exynos 7870 octa-core chip will power the smartphone.
On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy A6+ is expected to come with a 6-inch display and will certainly appeal to all those customers who like big smartphones. It is loaded with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. Furthermore, it differs from the Samsung Galaxy A6 in terms of SoC as well because the former is expected to come equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. Meanwhile, there are also reports out there that instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, it may come loaded with the Snapdragon 450 chipset.
Now, the FCC did not reveal any of the specifications of the device so we do not know how different the A6 and A6+ will be from Samsung’s budget-oriented J-series smartphones. As per the GizmoChina report, previous rumours had stated that the A6 and A6+ will only be launched in Europe, Russia and the Middle East, however, that is clearly not the case any longer.
